Minister of youths and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung yesterday delivered his tribute message to JIDE while addressing and audience of journalists with his Landmark Speech at the NUJ FCT Secretariat, Utako during the service of songs organized in his honour recently.
While commending on how journalism has helped in the fight for democracy by giving people the opportunity to articulate their opinion, Dalung said that JIDE was an outstanding journalist that has paid the supreme price of his profession as he believes that like Jide when we criticize what is not right, we have paid the supreme price. He said that a journalist cannot afford to sacrifice professionalism for anything short of that and JIDE had done just that.
“I believe that JIDE has paid a supreme price; JIDE believed when we criticize what is not right you can pay a supreme price. “

Dalung said that in today’s world, we must continue to defend Justice and fight for Justice because injustice is not a good neighbour of Peace. He added that even when he was being criticised, he never saw it as hatred but he believe such critics never knew how he operates and they needed to know more whike pointing out that criticism rather helped him to succeed.
“Even when I was criticized, I don’t think they hate me but I feel they do not know how I operate and needed to know more. Criticism helped me to succeed” Said Dalung.
Dalung lamented the vacuum created as a result said of JIDEs demise, stating that an acidic pen has dried up and a dark curtain has been drawn on professionalism in Journalism. He lamented that courage has been threatened and that only men of courage will take off from where JIDE has left.
” In conclusion let m say that an acidic pen has dried up and a dark curtain has been drawn on professionalism in Journalism. Courage has been threatened and only men of courage will take off from where JIDE left.” Said Honorable Dalung.
He said that JIDE has made contributions to sports development and that the young persons and athletes whom he helped via his sports development program will really miss him. Dalung said that himself and the entire sports Family are indeed devastated and prayed that the soul of his he departed rest in peace.
